Resin flooring offers a beautiful finish, but it can be quite difficult to clean properly if you don’t have all the right equipment and tips. There are a few things to consider when cleaning your resin floors.

Post Installation

When your resin flooring has been fitted, it needs to be left for a while to cure. Depending on where the flooring has been laid, it is important to know how long it needs to cure for and at what temperature. Usual curing time is seven days, and during this time no water should come into contact with the flooring.

Cleaning

To keep the resin flooring at its best, it is important to clean it regularly. We recommend that you use specialist products and equipment designed for resin flooring, and a multi purpose floor cleaning machine.

Do not use acid based or abrasive cleaners on your resin flooring, and the use of strong alkali cleaners is only permitted where the above options are not available, but they must not be concentrated.

When it comes to scrubbing your floors, never use something that could scrape the flooring, we recommend a squeegee for optimum results.

Polishing

When you have successfully washed the floors with the right tools and cleaners, it’s time to polish up with a wax polish or polymer glaze. All the very best polishers that give the best results on resin flooring are wax based, this is because they give more resistance to scratches.

Another choice is metallic polishers, which will give an instant protection to your flooring and will be recommend to you by most manufacturers. We suggest you apply three coats for the best results and recommend that you repeat this every three months.

Accidental Damage

When it comes to accidental damage on your resin flooring, there are two main ways it can happen. Firstly is accidental impact, which usually requires you to contact your flooring manufacturer for some advice on what to do next, as this only affects an isolated area of your flooring. It needs to be tended to as soon as possible, as if left it can consume more damage from water, dirt and dust which will consequently destroy and spread damage to the entire flooring.

The second most common damage that occurs in resin flooring is severe scratching or scoring. If this does happen, it is important to clean and polish as soon as possible so that the area can be protected from further damage occurring. If you have been religiously cleaning and polishing your resin flooring, this scratching or scoring could be only on the wax level, meaning no immediate damage has been caused to the flooring itself.
